Introduction
This section delves into a complex and significant part of geopolitics and provides in-depth analysis and commentary on the latest events. Domains like politics, international relations, economics, finance, and other macro events in crucial areas should have better coverage and should not be politics behind them.
Explore the world of geopolitics. The latest news will provide clues, but in-depth analysis and multiple angles will give a broader context and help you understand the bigger picture. It is not just about presenting cold facts and news; without an angle, analysis, and explanation, it is as seamless as a river rock.
This world of geopolitics also uncovers the web of global foreign policies, emphasizing the world’s interconnected nature. It’s the elaborate world of strategy, deception, and propaganda!
The national interest of each country is determined by history and current affairs of state (geopolitics), and the leaders of countries also follow the common good of the people.
Joseph Nye
This section strongly emphasizes geopolitics and its solid relation to history. Sometimes, highlighting past events and actions can reveal a particular evolution, even if it seems unlikely.
Before 2020, the world was seemingly “relatively” stable, at least for Europe. The apparent insignificant display of events profoundly disrupted the puzzle, which is the whole world.
However, the media only focused on what was interesting, from parties and larger entities to countries and prominent political associations supporting interest groups.
For instance, in 2022, after the first declared clash between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, everyone was utterly shocked.
Public opinion reacted as if it came from the void, which is utter nonsense. Donbas has been a well-hidden insight broiling zone of Ukraine.
After the war started, attention shifted almost completely to it. All states’ politics and “propaganda machines” began to drill, and the world changed.
Finance news is also presented, analyzed, or commented on here but tied to geopolitics (macro view).
Significant financial events, like the US interest rate policy, are critical, even if they seem ordinary in developed Western countries.
The financial policies of a country of the economic size of the United States can directly dictate the direction and economic future of countries, including yours. The same is true with China, which cannot be ignored anymore.
It can impact pension fund investments made, valued, and so on. If something like the 2008 crash happens again, it can stop your country’s economy in six months.
As I said earlier, we live in an interconnected world.
The main reason is that at least half of the world is digitally connected, including banking, e-commerce, etc.
Disastrous climatic events
Catastrophic events can affect the world on financial, social, political, and environmental levels.
An example is what happened on and soon after March 11, 2011.
The earthquake that occurred on this date and the tsunami that followed destabilized the entire Japanese island and the world.
After the March 2011 9.8-magnitude earthquake in Fukushima and the tsunami that affected the Daiki Nuclear plant, the Japanese and capital markets were in shock.
Multiple financial assets were affected, including stocks, bonds, commodities, and future investments.
Staying informed and acting firm is critical, especially when managing your investments in turbulent times.
For example, Viorel – my friend, whose finances transformed almost overnight following a well-timed investment in the financial markets shortly after the earthquake. His story perfectly shows how knowledge and timely action can produce results. Read about his success here.
Wars and military interventions
Also, an event that seemed unimportant at the time, in 2014, the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, impacted politics, policies, and economics for years.
It impacted the lives of so many of us, from the life-and-death perspective of the people involved in different conflicts in which the Russian Federation got involved afterward (Ukraine-Russian Federation conflict and other proxy wars) to the future price of oil and other markets, if any.
It opened the possibility of hyperinflation in the years to come, 2025 especially.
So, in these unpredictable and potentially dangerous times, saying you are interested in politics and such global events is like saying you don’t care what is happening to you because now, in 2024, after building so many events, layers and layers after each other that will impact, believe it or not, the life of anyone, regardless if we are conscious or not.
