Defender Carter Mazur (22 years old) has missed his team games since March 6, 2025, when the Red Wings played against Utah Hockey (loss 2-4).

He was injured in the upper body, and he is uncertain when he might return to the ice.

Also, the left defender had no goal nor assist in his first game in the NHL.

Previously, when playing in Grand Rapids Griffins, he scored eight goals and had seven assists during the 20 games he played during the 2024-2025 AHL season.

Jeff Petry, 37, remains sidelined after sustaining an injury on January 3, 2025, in a 5-4 win against Columbus. His condition is undisclosed, but he was expected to sit on the bench for 6-8 weeks. His stats in the 30 games he played are one goal and five assists.

Vegas Golden Knights

William Karlsson suffered a hamstring injury in his last game against the Blues. The forward has seven goals and 11 assists in 38 games this season. The 32-year-old is expected to get back on foot soon.

Robin Lehner has been injured on April 26, 2022. The goaltender had a .907 save percentage before undergoing hip surgery.

Carter Mazur’s performance in the AHL was never proven in the NHL, as he was injured in his team’s first match.

Jeff Petry’s performance was slightly above average in most games, but they contributed significantly to some games.

For instance, his top performances were seen in two games: Detroit won 4-2, one against Toronto on December 15, 2024, and the last against Washington Capitals on December 29, 2024. He has shown increased form in the previous three games in which Detroit won against Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals.

Vegas Golden Knights

William Karlsson played very well in the first part of the season but decreased in shape approximately since January 2024.

Logan Thompson replaced Robin Lehner, who had a slightly higher save rate (.915) than Lehner. He was chosen for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game roster list but injured himself in the last part of that year.

Now, the current goalie is Adin Hill, the replacement of Logan Thompson, the same goalie who took the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup. Hill was convincing to take the lead as a primary goalie in 2022 when he had a .932 goal-saving rate.

Shea Theodore is a key two-way defenseman whose absence weakens Vegas’ blue line. His absence could impact the Golden Knights’ push for a higher playoff seed.

Raphael Lavoie could be a promising player for the Vegas Golden Knights once he becomes a stable, titular player and passes the accommodation period, but he is now dispensable.
